No . . . you don't

Very true. I would say Jody is several standard deviations away from the center. I am too, just on the other side!

@ Blue Cheese ... not just finger gymnastics, they also look about a foot longer than mine

I think it's a video illusion due tot he quality. I've always concentrated on efficient movement but they are certainly moving. Thanks for listening.

Thanks a lot Laurence. As far as the tempo, I don't think it's fast for hornpipe, certainly slower than the tempo most people play Fisher's, Durang's or Rickett's Hornpipes. Anyways, It depends on who you ask as far as standard tempos for hornpipes versus reels, etc. From the reading I've done I've never seen a historical unanimous consent on that one.

You're really doing a great job digging into these fiddle tunes. I've always loved hornpipes, the first I ever learned, still my favorite to play is Virginia Hornpipe, much slower tune as some are, of course there's Sailor's Hornpipe, Fisher's Hornpipe, Rickett's Hornpipe, Durang's too, and hopefully some new ones that you may uncover as you dig into transcribing. As far as speed I think you have it right where you need it, you're not overreaching yourself, I think it's just a product of your proficiency. When technique overpowers the material it's evident, but this is still a very listenable tune at this speed, great job. I even saw you hitting the 5th string here and there.
