Jeff Gordon maybe Ryan Newman something tells me with all the attention on congress and the idea the army sponsorship of his car being dropped by budget cuts, he may win just to say nananana I told you so.

Greetings from Daytona. We saw yesterday's race, walking out the door right now. After yesterday I'm thinking Busch, Bowyer or Stewart.

Cheers, Joe

edit: would be nice to see Junior take it, could happen

I'd like to see Jeff Burton do it.....I always approve when Tony Stewart wins as well.....

however for sentimental reasons my two choices would be mark martin and.........I'd love to see that 21 car in victory lane like days of old......

Majorbanjo - Posted - 02/20/2011:  14:31:42

Oh My God!!!!.....21 got it.........Wood Brothers back to victory lane.!!!!!!

I think NASCARS "improvements" have taken plate racing from bad to worse. Sad affair they looked like our love bugs down here in Florida racing coupled up like that. The messes they made were worse than love bugs.

However, even as a life long Chevy fan it was great to see the Wood Bros. #21 back in victory lane! Really glad for Trevor too.

I'm a Chevy guy but, go Trevor Bayne! Good for you. Maybe next time Junior.

Couldn't disagree more....it was the best 500 I've watched from start to finish in a long time.........talk about boring....I remember the days of all cars in one big pack running around for 200 laps with no cautions......no drama.....today was different this was a great race!

I was at the 76' Atlanta 500 that was won by David Pearson in the 21 woods brothers car..........he had won the daytona 500 that year....the last time the 21 car won Daytona.....until today.....

Bayne is from my neck of the woods, it's a huge deal around here with him winning, so I am very happy for him. And I agree, it's great to see the Wood Brothers in Victory Lane again.

Yeah for the wood brothers, i've been a wood brothers fan a long time, even when Glen ran the number 16 at Bowman Gray in Winston Salem years ago.

I agree. When did it turn into a two-man team competition?

I agree with those who wrote that it was great to see the Woods Bros back in racing and on top. Who would of thought .... a 20 year old.

I'm with you Trey! It was one of the best superspeedway races I've seen in many years.

Greetings from DAYTONA,
I don't know what it looked like on TV but in the stands that was one exciting race. Having half the field KO'd by an early crash was obviously a huge downer. I was also disappointed by those late-race crashes and cautions because it was looking like really good racing going into the last quarter. We all went crazy when junior was ahead and when it looked like he had a chance. Stewart got his share of cheers and boos. People cheered when it looked like Kyle was out of it and even more people cheered when he was right back in it. People really cheered when that Kobalt car went out of the running. And for some reason everyone booed when Montoya was introduced before the race. Good for the Wood Bros. on the win though, the fans all seemed really happy about that. Some fun day, I hope it's not another 10 years before I'm here again.
I used to be a Labonte fan so it was nice to see him do well, and Mike here on the Hangout has gotten me into rooting for Robby Gordon so it was cool to see him lead some laps. He was right there for a little while.
I've been a Nascar fair-weather-friend for the last few years. All the racers I used to root for are retired. But this 500 has energized me some, I think I may just pay attention this year.

it took about 2 hours to get 2 miles from the track tonight,
worth every second,
Joe

Things taken from todays race
1: Not used to seeing anyone but Harvick in the Yellow Penzoil colors sorry Kurt you look cheesy
2: Harvick looks the same in the Budwieser colors:yep cheesy
3: Jeff Gordon, Your car is to hard to find on TV
4: Kyle Busch you need not be so impatient. But I could care less. As long as you don't wreak 24.
5: Now that Daytona is over maybe everyone will settle down and race.
Last but not least
6: I think I found a youg driver to watch this year. He just migh be the Heir apparent to alot of the old guard. Watch out Jeff Gordon. I bet that 24 might look good with the name TREVOR BAYNE above the driver window.

racer - Posted - 02/21/2011:  04:52:56

Hi it sure was nice to see the woods family on victory lane the kid sure knows how to drive he seems to have a lot of respect from most drivers which seems odd,but i dont think to many guys would cause the woods much grief ,good race except i think waltrip should get his eyes checked .ron

NASCAR.COM lists, for points, 1st = Carl Edwards. 39th = Trevor Bayne
I guess that it's because Trevor is a part time sprint cup driver. He still got the top money, though.
