I checked out Ryan's Youtube clips listed on the other thread, and he plays some really nice stuff. I especially liked the following (already posted on the other thread about SS playing):

His lines sound very melodic (not just flashy, but he's playing some very hip lines that fit the chords well, and also create tension and resolution - not just making every note fit the chord in a totally consonant way). Anyway, he keeps sounding more "authentic" in his jazz lines. I always thought he had great chops, but his ideas are developing as he keeps "exploring the jazz world".

I swear I saw an instructional vid by Ryan about single-string style, and he specifically said that he never uses the same finger twice on a string. I remember because he went so far as to say that he's sure Bela never does either. But in this jazz vid, I see him doing it all over the place. Never say never!
But great playing, at any rate! I'm thrilled to find good jazz!

Beautiful playing. Nice to see the comping he does in a duo setting. Really tasteful and inventive.
His single string playing is very impressive. It looks like he is using a 3 finger pattern on alot of the single string passages. Thanks for sharing.
