Some time back, at a junk store, I got a racquet press.
For you youngsters, that's what people used to have, to keep their WOODEN tennis racquets from warping.
Anyway, I replaced the original 4 bolts with long ones.
It works just swell for holding the tension hoop in place until I can get a couple of J-hooks in.

I played tennis in high school but, when I broke my racket and couldn't afford to buy another one, my tennis career ended. I'm really sorry not that I didn't have enough foresight to keep that darn frame so that I could use it to mount banjo head. Dang it Mike! Where were you when I needed you?

Xnavyguy: You can make a good enough banjo clamp out of a couple chunks of 1x2.
AND, if you use skinny enough bolts, you can run 'em through the bracket shoes, so it won't even shift much.
