J-walk posted a video of Abigail Washburn's City of Refuge some time back, but what might be helpful about that particular post is that he and some others went on to to have a conversation about the 'hop-high tuning' that Washburn said that the banjo is tuned in for the song. I'm not yet certain if anyone there got the tuning exactly figured out, but you all might want to take a look to find out for yourself.

There is loads of great stuff on you-tube of Abbie, from "City of refuge" through the "Sparrow Quartet" and back to "Uncle Earl". Some of my favourite music ever (so far) is from the Sparrow Quartet, of any genre that is. I can't believe she played in my local town this year and I missed it.

Great video. Thanks for posting. I saw Abigail Washburn at a festival in the UK last month. Her set was a real highlight. She drew my daughter a little doodle in her autograph book too. Nice Lady!

It looks like that was shot as "green screen", where the green part would later be replaced by a completely different background. [If that's the case, I wonder what background they were planning for this.]

I adore that whole album. Having worked with Abigail once, I can vouch for her impressive in-person banjo skills as well as her infectious, warm personality. Again, a choice album indeed.

Thanks, she has her banjo capoed on the 3rd fret, and in the conversation at the link I posted that C tuning is what some were suggesting. So, since it worked out well for you, I think I'll take a crack at it in C tuning capoed at the 3rd fret.
The infections warm personality is so evident that I feel almost obligated to find a way to meet her and see for myself.

A few weeks ago, I tabbed a version of City of Refuge as someone's request here. I couldn't locate the CD to see if the tuning was spelled out, so I based the tab on the WFPK video that I posted above. I don't know Hop High tuning, so I doubt that I matched that. It seemed to me that Abigail's banjo was tuned to fFACF (or fDF#AD capoed at 3rd fret).
Writing tab for songs is quite a bit different from fiddle tunes since there are verses, choruses, perhaps an intro and various lead breaks. Here's what I posted then. If it's helpful to anyone, it has been worth the effort. Again, it's based on the WFPK video, so you might use that as a referent.
