Hope you don't have cats at home! No really... it'd be interesting to hear. I don't have any basis for making me think it, but I'll bet fish skin would be bright. Plus I've had skin heads, but never yet mounted one. I see the biggest piece is listed as ~16". That'd give 2.5" all the way around to work with on an 11" head before trimming. It sounds like that'd be enough... wouldn't it?

I've had  a doumbek drum w/ a  fish skin head (sturgeon), but they are very thin.  The look & tone were excellent, & had no odor whatsoever.    ( I also have Japanese shamisen w/ a snake skin head) , but the diameter is quite small).   ( I wouldn't doubt if we hear from someone who has used Fish skin on a banjo,  I could picture one on a banjo ukulele)

That part Best if used in continuously dry conditions leaves us St. Louis Folks out with the high humidity we have. I can see where a nice big Blue Catfish skin would be good.

Human skin is the best,however with the revival of popularity of tattooing,it is becoming increasingly difficult to find large enough pieces that are unmarked.

I just read an artical last night about how are high unemployment rate is due to more people getting facial tatoos. I've never eat me a possum but when I was a kid I'd go coon hunting and eat me a few of'em. Taste kinda like turkey dark meat.

all joking aside,i have used kangaroo and emu skin.Both dont work,the kangaroo skin is darned tough and wont soften up enough to stretch on,and the emu skin,although it sounds fantastic,responds dramatically to moisture in the air,going unplayable very quickly.
