Thanks Nancy. My 11 year old son Ethan is the light of my (60 year old) life.

Thanks Nancy. Even though the fledglings are out of the nest I have my granddaughter with me this weekend to remind me that fatherhood wasn't so easy but still the most worthwhile thing I ever accomplished.

Thank you!
Been a 'daddio on the patio' for 29 years now...
My one and only kiddo, Jennifer, turned 29 last week...
Time flies when you're having fun!

Nancy in another thread you asked if we have regrets.
One of my biggest is that I have never become a father, despite always wanting to have kids and be a dad. Life just never dealt me that hand, yet. At my age, about to be 52, it's looking less and less do-able.
My dad passed on Christmas Day, 1991. I still miss him. He was a good man.
Happy Father's Day, all.

Banjoy, get a puppy, they need daddies too.
I am putting up pickles for when ever the girls daddy comes through. He will be heading out to Arizona Monday after his DOT medical. Probably get to stop at house.

Hey dingo, funny you should mention that, my mind has been in the same direction... I've had pets all my life until the last three years. Been looking at some mighty fine looking dogs on Craigslist the last few days.... if I act on that I'll post some pictures... :)
Thanks for the kindness.

Thank you Nancy.
And Happy Fathers day especially to the Dads of kids who choose not to include them in their adult lives. May time soften their hearts. Keep loving them. Don't lose faith.

I always had trouble figuring out what to get my father for Father's Day. Now I don't have a father to get something for. Happy Father's Day!
BNJOMAKR - Posted - 06/18/2012: 02:47:26
(This is from another post, but thought it might fit here, also. I have been a father a comparatively short time, but have learned that children don't always do what you know as right, but they have to learn from their mistakes for themselves, and pray that God will work things out... just as He has done for me in the past!)
I am a stepfather, even though I call them my children. I grew up knowing them most of their life. Their late father was the pastor of our church. Today, my wife and I ate dinner with Amy, my No.2. I kid with her a lot, and sometimes call her "Amos", and she calls me "Margret"! After we ate and got to our cars in the parking lot, she gave me a hand written note. Filling up the whole page she had written "HAPPY FATHER"S DAY!" and between these letters were written:
"I know we have a different family and sometimes more than any sane person could bear, but thank-you. At first I wasn't quite sure what I thought about this whole deal. Now... I know its just right. Thank-you for trying your best to take care of this motley crew! I hope you have a good day and know that you are appreciated greatly, and I hope trying to read this hasn't crossed your eyes too much. I love you Margret! -Amos!"
It made my Father's Day! ![]()

This was my first Father's Day without my earthly father; he went to be with our Heavenly Father on Dec. 29th, 2011. I certainly wasn't looking forward to the day, but spending time with my two sons and my wife made it better. After church, we went for a picnic on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and then went to put some flowers on my Dad's grave. It was a nice day, but kind of sad too.
