STOLEN! Help us find Matt's mandolin and fiddle which was stolen from a Glendale AZ hotel this afternoon.

It's a very unique mandolin, LaPlant number 125 made in 2003. The fiddle is old and un-labeled with a case and bow. They are probably together. We're offering a reward with no questions asked.

Friends in the Phoenix area can check in with pawn shops and music shops in your area to aid in recovery.

Thanks. - Monroe Crossing

So sorry about this. It's just horrible. My OME Otis Taylor was stolen over a year ago along with many other valuable items, but the only thing that still hurts is the loss of that banjo.

This is an incredibly GOOD sounding mandolin made by Lloyd LaPlant, in Grand Rapids Minnesota.

There's a plethora of LaPlant  mandolins and guitars here in Minnesota and even though they all sound good - - Matt Thompson's LaPlant  #125, is an EXCEPTIONAL one that really had few equals.  I've heard him pick it (many times with Monroe Crossing) and once he broke a string on it here in Duluth while performing on stage with the MC,  but was immediately offered another LaPlant mandolin to pick while his string got changed. It (the replacement) was a good sounding instrument, but nowhere as good as #125 that Matt owns and picks on.

I noticed that this STOLEN ALERT is also posted on the Mandolin Cafe.

I hope the thief is caught, and hung high (as they deserve).

(I'll lend a hand with the rope - - new or used,  just so it gets the job done)

Here's Matt with LaPlant mandolin   #125, and Monroe Crossing.

Good luck finding your instruments. Keep an eye on e-bay and Craig's list too.
