Hello All,
I do not play, nor do I have ambitions for it. I did a few years back acquire an old Dobson & Son banjo at a yard sale in Chevy Chase, MD about 20 years ago. It's been sitting around my house too long and I would like to find a new home for it; however, I have no idea of its worth or lack thereof. I turn to this group for your shared wisdom. I would love to hear your opinions and advice on where I may best sell the instrument where it may find a good home. I currently reside in northern NJ suburbs and have ready access to NYC, if that makes any difference.
I have attached some photos. Thanks in advance.
Jon

If you are interested in selling it, here would be the best place. I would be interested in it.

That is a very nice banjo. There will be plenty of interest in it here. In fact there is a group dedicated to that maker. I'll link your thread to the group for more input.
Best wishes!

That would look great at my house , Any idea what you want for it? You could PM me . another good venue is EBay usually sorts the value out and gets it to a wide audience. Steve

Hi All,
I've had a few offers already, and am flattered, but I would appreciate some feedback on what would be a real fair price. I don't want to be unrealistic, but I also don't want to be cheated.
If there is a location I can search out for the info, please also advise. I would prefer not to commit to anyone before I research this some.
Thanks

If you could post st ome more photos I'm sure someone knows about it . The rim looks interesting the square nuts puts as an earlier instrument. Thats all I have. Steve

This looks like a very nice earlier HCD...The rim decoration is super cool and it's got the earlier, plain rectangular dowel stick. I'd guess it would be worth $1000-$1500.

I'd guess $200-$500 (assuming).
It's only worth what someone's willing to give for it.

This looks quite nice. I would go with the 1000 - 1500$ estimate.
Certain to bring much more than 200 - 500$.

Hello All,
Thank you for all the notes and off list replies. I plan on taking more detailed photos and posting the instrument in the For Sale section over the weekend.
