Since I was fired by my rich uncle Sam, I'm not much of a leader. I don't know enough to want to start it but I sure would like to join a Cubley banjo owners' group. Maybe I could learn something about them; I have five.

There's a full size Cubley tailpece pattern in my photos here on Banjohangout if anybody needs to make one;

.060" stainless steel or Jeweler's nickel silver would work out nicely.

Mine are all the simple paddlehead style (one with only 4 brackets!) and various eagle (wings up, down) shoes. My latest has simple shields (no stars, just dots).

I had some correspondence with Bill Rickard who is interested in making some tailpieces but he had to put that project on the back burner earlier this year. I have one intact and one broken; the rest were without. I love the tailpieces, the great design for the hooks and nuts, and that sexy cut behind the 5th peg. Elegant! (Elegant sex?)

I also wish someone would reproduce the hook and nut assemblies.

Banjonz:  I don't think your photos are of a Cubley banjo.

I have seen that peghead shape and inlay type on other (often un-marked) instruments attributed to the Buckbee factory. Take a look at the example below and the attached photos.

John, you are probably right. There was some initial resemblance at least to my eye.
