Tom,to my knowledge,these banjos had no serial #,just the TB-1's and 2's. Thanks, Jim

Actually Tomcat if it has a Serial Number it is usually on the back of the headstock. I don't think you'll find a serial number on your oriole though.
You will likely find a factory order number on the inside of the neck. You would have to remove the neck and look--it should be written in pencil.

Pre-War Gibson "Oriole" banjos do not have a serial number.
They do (usually) have a Factory Order Number (FON) die-stamped into the rim at the same location as any other pre-war Gibson banjo.

Yes, the one I owned had the FON in the usual place.
