Forgive my ignorance but is this the tune written or used by Stephen Foster? I have known this tune for a long time but when I heard the song Angelina Baker which starts with the words "Way down yonder on the old plantation etc.." It is sung to a different tune. Can you or anyone else clarify this for me?

Jimmy,  Stephen Foster wrote the song for the Christy Minstrels and was published in 1850.  Although the instrumental version for fiddle or banjo differs from Foster's melody.  This according to "Wikipedia".

Thanks Terry!  This is a fun tune for me.  This was my first attempt at a double C tune.  I really need to learn another one.  All in all I spent 11 years in OK, and retired while at Tinker Field.  Danny

The only other tune I play as of now in Double C tuning is the old Beatles song, 'I Will', Danny. I have an audio file of that on my home page.

Tinker is still going strong! I think you know I retired from AA here in Tulsa?
