I don't know Tom, it sure sounds like a stage ready/studio ready, just like a Gibson, Stelling, Deering, or other Brand XXX banjo to me, but are sure you wouldn't be happier spending a few Thousand more, for another Big Name brand that won't sound any better? I Think the average cost of banjo happiness today (you know the "hey look what i got factor")is probably about 3500$ and i am sure you didn't spend that kind of money on this Recording King Bluegrass Machine! Oh well! what do i know, i thought for sure a person had to spend 3-4 grand for a sound like that, i'm sure there will be some quality high end banjo owners chime in about how you have a great "Starter Banjo" but they won't be able to post anything that sounds any better, ESPECIALLY FOR THE MONEY! Seriously though, just wait till it opens up, from this side, it sounds amazing, good 4th string from what i can hear, up the neck crystal clear, really clean and cuts, not muddy anywhere! I can't wait to play one, i am the hugest fan of the straight grain maple that is used in the 30 and 35! Great sounding ax, Congrats!

Ha! Tony I'm not a rep yet but I'm expecting them free banjers and all expense paid vacations any day! Thanks guys! It really is a awesome banjer. The rim blew me away on this. I know tpf banjers have thicker rims but this thing looks so big and fat and absolutely flawless.

Tom. looks like a great banjo.....and very good pickin by the way. I play clawhammer and usually use an open back but there are times I really like clawwing on a resonator banjo. I heard the RK-30 also converts to an open back....sounds tempting. Rick

The OPF vs the TPF, you heard it here first, maybe. When Recording King puts a TPF with a Flattop ring on a good rim see what you get. Full thickness rim, larger volume between rim and resonator, sturdy flange design that converts easily to an openback, great sound, what's not to like?
