For the third consecutive year, a group of friends organizes an acoustic festival of music around the banjo. It takes place in a small village of the South of France: saint Gervasy near Nîmes on June 12th, 13th and 14th, 2015.

As the first two editions, this festival includes numerous styles: bluegrass, old time, Irish, folk song, modern jazz and new orleans, the classic banjo is not forgotten. This festival is completely free, the musicians occur free of charge, just for the pleasure to be together and to share a good moment of conviviality.

If this meeting is certainly the smallest festival of banjo to the world, the organizers, every volunteers can guarantee you a welcome, good meals, a very friendly atmosphere. It is possible to camp on the spot.

A public of amateur who will have this year still the pleasure to applaud, among others French musicians, Paul Bishop who will come from England for the second time.

This year, organizer have the possibility of presenting on stage Alison Brown and his quartet for a concert on Friday, 12 in the evening.

Alison Brown will also liven up one Master class of banjo (2 hours) on Saturday, 13 in the morning.

So that the coming of Alison is possible, the organizers should can pay her.

If you are interested in this concert (price of the entrance: 15€ at the most and less if the room is full) and or Master class (40€), it is necessary to let it know very quickly to the organizer :

"Manouche " jazz was, in the first one, played by gypsies.  Django Reinhardt was the most famous of them. Some banjo pickers play with guitarists of jazz.

My wife and I will be coming to France later in the month of June to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary...sorry we'll miss this nice event.  We'll be in the southwestern part in the Basque area and are really looking forward to it.

BTW, Michel I love your BHO name,  "Jo Ban".  Very clever :)

Wow! I just heard about this! I'm an American banjo player currently living in Mende, Lozère. I'm going to have to come to the festival. That would be awesome!
