Started the installation of a new 12Inch, Special Select, JBalch Goat Hide.
At first pass the tension band is riding high by 1/4 inch or more. Over the next 2 or 3 weeks I'll make a few more rounds of tightening until it stretches into place.

I may not choose to use hide heads on my own banjos, but I have to admit, there are no heads more beautiful than a fine goat skin.

John provides a top notch pre-mounting service an water resistant treatment to said skins.
Sure a fellow could do it himself I guess.
But I want my heart transplant done by the surgeon who has done hundreds.

And Stern may not sell direct to consumers or in small lots.
