Has anyone incorporated any of the brightly dyed goat skins offered by the Meyer brothers at Pergamena in designing banjos? I have seen black banjo heads, and various shades of tan and brown, but not a deep green or red head. These are skins are aniline dyed ranging from .6mm to 1.4 mm thick. Are they suitable for banjo heads?

I assume their parchment hides would work for banjo heads. I bet they are super fine quality too. But they are very expensive (much more than even Stern Tanning Co.).

For banjo heads, I prefer hides that are .013-.018" thick. That would be "the thicker end of their "Medium" scale.

The late Bill Miller sold dyed rawhide for banjo heads. He offered the two colors shown below.
