Reverb does have some good deals from time to time. Here's a Super tenor for $675 and ordinarily I'd be all over it, but my interest lately is vintage guitars. I can't tell which tone ring configuration it has, but at that price, who cares?

It has a cool transfer decal on the heel from  a music dealer in Montreal.

A few years ago, I had a #1 Silver Bell with the same decal (see attached).

Chris, that's a 1st generation Silver Bell tone ring on the Super.

Yes, but does it have the grommet holes on both the inside and outside of the tone ring, or is it a half-spun ring with holes only on the outside? That's what I couldn't tell from the photo and some people feel it's an important distinction. Never having had one with the half-spun ring I couldn't say whether there's a significant difference in the tone.

This sort of minutia keeps me endlessly entertained.

Wow, interesting banjo...!

The seller is in Canada, I wonder if the 675 is in Canadian dollars? cheeky Even better deal...!

Ah. I've never seen the "half spun" ring.

Chris - it does for sure have a Type I Silver Bell tone ring - both in- and out-side perforated - do trust me.

Besides - it´s manufactured appr. May 1924 - not in 1925 as mentioned.
