Someone asked a question about my Romero banjo when I took the stage to open Montreal's Yellow Door Coffeehouse Friday Night Open Stage of 10 June 2016, which I host, and I found myself telling the audience about the Romero's terrible fire a week earlier that completely destroyed their banjo workshop along with every instrument the Juno award winning couple owned. At that point, the song I had planned to open the evening with no longer seemed appropriate, and instead this old Lighting Hopkins' spiritual plea for divine assistance felt like the only song that I could play. This rendering of Needed Time is for Pharis & Jason Romero.
