Being a fan of Blue Grass for over 50 years, I fondly remember the 60's, watching live outdoor shows in PA and OH of all the Greats, while imbibing  on vodka infused watermelon.  Earl Scruggs was at the top of my list.  I'm disappointed that I can't find any reference to him playing a B&D.  Bill Monroe probably played a Gibson, but he seemed to have dug out the M of P logo on the headpiece, hmm.

Regretfully, I never got to hear ZD play, but I still listen for him on "nostalgia"  radio when a Baron Elliott platter comes up.  Judging from the sheet music in his estate, he was apparently self-taught in the "pick" style of banjo playing.
