No sir. I've owned close to 10 Kalamazoo banjos and have seen black rims, double bound resonators, and a few other oddities but never those things. Perhaps a replacement?

Frankie, have you seen the resonator walls solid black as opposed to the sunburst yellow/orange color? I'm hoping the rim is original anyway.

1939 Had black on the outside of the resonator, rim, and neck I think. I'll post some pics

It's not the same thing, Ken, the barrel is shorter and is fitted with the back plate. Originals, or long time replacements, note the loss of plating.

That back plate is most likely a washer and isn't part of the shoe. I do agree that those look shorter, though.
I'm not certain if the O.P is asking about replacements, anyway. To me, he seems to be asking about the authenticity of what he has.

Correct....I'm just curious if Gibson ran out of the typical shoe brackets and came up with those to get it out the door. Of course, I think many know that Gibson had some inconsistencies through out the banjo building years. Not saying there was a lot of that, but that did have some over the years. I'm suppose to get it by Fed-x tomorrow evening. I'll take some pics of it and post here.
