I have this old banjo, and was wondering if it was a Cubley..? (I do have another Cubley, and they both have some of the same features, (Riveted head ring, pot band with smaller globe feet) Let me know what you think,
Thanks in advance, Stacey

I don't think this is a Cubley banjo, probably yet another Buckbee product.
Cubley used a very unique nut on his bracket hooks. It takes a special tool to tighten the hooks (I need to make one for my Cubley). I don't see any of the more common Cubley features either. The globe brackets don't look right to me.
However, I'm by no means a Cubley expert. Mine has all the more common "Cubley" stuff, like the unique tailpiece, wide footed globe brackets, odd nuts, etc. I wish mine had the Cubley medallion inlay...but ya can't have everything...![]()

I agree with Marc - the Cubley that I owned had the unique nuts, hooks, and tailpiece. Mine did not have the pot band. The headstock was very unique too and looked nothing like this one.
This banjo looks very similar to a Buckbee that I also owned in the past. Same headstock, same round dowel stick, same neck attachment screws. Again my Buckbee did not have that pot band - it was a half spun over pot.

The only Cubley I ever had ... was very unique. The hardware was unlike any I have seen on other banjos. See photos.
I agree with others who doubt this is a Cubley banjos.
