Anybody tried this? I have an old Kleartone hide head that I want to sand and give the wax paper treatment followed by a weatherproofing spray.

I've done this to new hides before but never an old one.

Will it work? Any thoughts? Anybody tried this before?

Is it unstable? Old heads are often well-stretched and quite reliable.

Consider applying renaissance wax. It can serve as a protectant to help keep the hide clean. I think it seals against moisture - about as well as waterproofer spray.
