I couldn't believe my eyes. The last time I saw this Black Cherry banjo was in front of my shop door. Andy DePaule contacted the owner and offered a "new" headstock inlay design of a magnificent buck at cost if we would like to use it. Heck Yeah! We used white pearl deer tracks on the fingerboard.
The truss rod cover is a match to the flipped and rotated 3-piece Black Cherry neck. The skunk stripe is also Black Cherry
The tree was 80 yrs old , Black Cherry from the extra 45 days of growing season the Yoopers get. You didn't know that?
This is a tube open back with no holes in the rim.
How the heck Santa got ahold of it, I really don't know, I've only seen this in artwork, not a real photo.
So here you go, have fun in your lives, I'm way too young for this much smiling.
The "secret" inlay on the heel is a compass always pointing North.

I see them. Maybe it's the Aurora Gregoryensis, I can see you guys just over the horizon, it's the lights around you , Mike. The owner's name is Chris whom I now realize is just a spy for the good side. He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows if you've been good or bad , he knows where the best reindeer games take place, and like us, for the extra point after a touchdown,
they ALWAYS go for 2.
Keep scoring, the game is just gettin' good. ( ))===='== ::}

And the Black Cherry "talks and sings" more and more as she ages just beautifully!

I SEE them!
I SEE them!
What beautiful work.
But, of course, the affinity of Santa's elves for banjos is well-known.

Is the owner "CHRIS", as in Chringle?

Yes, now you blew his cover, he'll be back every year as long as we believe.
