I play violin and recently picked up a gibson banjo ,Gibson Junior Tenor Banjo.
I want to tune it like my violin, and like many irish players do, in GDAE. I am not sure what string set to buy!!
Here are the choices on amazon:
12 - .36
9- 28
9-30
10,14,24,31
Can anybody tell me what to buy to get the desired violin tuning GDAE

As it’s a short scale banjo, I’d suggest using 12, 18 wound, 28 and 36. You need heavier gauge strings for the shorter 17 fret banjo

I buy custom sets from American Made Banjo Company. I think my trebles are just a step lighter than Enda's. 11-17w-28w-36w. I play a 17-fret Bacon Blue Ribbon.
The wound A string makes all the difference to me.

Do remember that's an octave lower than violin tuning.

Enda suggested the Deerings, and they are available in many music stores in the US. John Pearse makes several sets for GDAE. I like their 2010m.
