I have a strange and very puzzling situation with my new Myers Grip pickup (condenser mic) working with our band’s sound board. This probably isn’t the best most appropriate inquiry for BHO, but I’m at a loss, who to else to ask.

I recently purchased a Myers Grip for my banjo, and when I tested it at home, through my Mackie board to a small amplified, it worked great and sounds awesome.

When our band plays a gig we use an Allen & Heath sound board that is owned by another band member. When the Myers is plugged into that board, there is no sound whatsoever. I even brought along my other banjo fitted with a Fishman Rare Earth, and it worked fine. So, it is not an issue with cords, battery, channel, etc. I used the same cords, same channel, same DI, etc. but no matter what, the Myers does not work when plugged into that sound board.

I read somewhere that using a 1/4”-to-XLR adaptor would make the difference, but it did not. The Myers, unlike the Fishman magnetic pickup, is a small condenser microphone. My condenser vocal mic works fine when tested in that same channel.

I reached out to Gregg Myers, who very kindly responded via email and devoted some time to the problem, but correspondence stopped when I acknowledged that I don’t think there is any fault with his pickup. I am writing in hopes there is a very off-chance that perhaps someone else has encountered this problem with Myers and their sound board, and has resolved the issue.

Or bass player used a Myers for awhile. As I remember it had a very low output level and I had to crank the input gain up to max. Did you try on a hi z input?

Interesting that your bass player had that experience, since what I'd read was that Hi z was used when plugging in a magnetic pickup, and the Myers is a small, powered condenser mic. I will definitely give that a try !!
