Engraved gold plated tailpiece with what appears to be DE stamped on it. I’m trying to figure out who made it and how old it may be? I’m new to the blog so any info on where to send pictures of the tailpiece for historical information would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend you post the picture directly to this forum. Though they are on your media page, making it easily accessible on this page will get you more replies.

When you (and only you) view this page, you can scroll down to an attachments box that has your media photos. click on each one and they will appear in "your attachments" box. Then click post reply.

Very simple and much more convenient for us that have sucky internet connections.

That said, your tailpiece looks like an Ode tailpiece with custom engraving.

Looks like an Ode ...... not sure who made them for Ode.

I agree, Ode. The initials are interesting.  Notice they are inside an oval = O?   A stylized "ODE"?  Other ODE owners might chime in.

Elton (Elkington Corp.) made these tailpieces for ODE along with most of the rest of the hardware. There are 4 and 6 stringed versions out there as well as those stamped Muse (my Muse tailpiece is stamped ODE, however).

Muse was the retail brand while Ode was for mail order. When Chuck sold Ode to Baldwin, the Muse brand went away.
