This Nechville Maple Galaxy Phantom is in good condition. It sports a rare Nechville 40 hole tone ring for bigger volume. Also features a radiused fingerboard, a renaissance head (deeper tone), and a custom Nechville bridge made by Tom Nechville himself. If you are not familiar with Nechville banjos visit NECHVILLE.COM and see all the options available on a "Helimount" banjo. Head tension can be adjusted simply by turning the cogs with the included wrenches. All parts are interchangeable including the head, tone ring, rim, and neck. This gives pickers lots of options for "fine tuning". I've known Tom for over 25 years. He makes incredible banjos that challenge the limited rules of old school banjo construction. I have pointed out some flaws that make this banjo in "good" condition rather than "excellent" condition (see photos). A couple cogs show damage. When adjusting head tension bypass the damaged cogs by inserting the cog wrenches in different holes. There is some light to moderate fret ware on frets1&2 as shown in photo. The finish at back of the neck at the headstock shows wear from capo parking. The armrest shows a crack (see photo) but is absolutely solid.
