A gorgeous 2021 Davis Custom Vintagetone fashioned for the original owner, based on Jim Mills’ “Mack Crow” Gibson. Tim confirmed a special torrified rim, with a satin gold 20 hole engraved tone ring..... the satin gold plating and engraving on all hardware being done through Huber’s shop. The speed neck is slightly wider with 1.25 at the nut, is older growth mahogany with a deep rich colored rosewood board, the usual pinpointed inlays from Tim’s expertise, dead straight, 5th string nails at frets 7 & 9, and plays smooth as butter…complimented by a beautiful mahogany resonator. The matching satin gold Rickard Cyclone tuners are a wonderful upgraded addition. It sports an 11/16 Wisconsin maple Crowe spaced bridge with excellent volume, nice action, and rich tone…that can certainly be changed to the new owner’s preference. Comes in its original brown CrossRock case (the strap holding the lid is not attached to the base). This instrument was played professionally by its first owner and shows some 2nd and 3rd fret wear, but has some considerable life left before fret replacement. In overall excellent condition.
It’s an outstanding example of Tim’s exceptional work and mastery…the ONLY reason it’s for sale is because he built a fantastic neck for my ‘32 Style 1…which gets all my attention.
