This is a Groton manufactured Bacon & Day under the Kingston name. Serial number dates to 1935. The case appears original. Handle MAY be original, expert input would be appreciated on this. The head may also be original.
In overall very nice condition. Some minor tarnish and rust on the J-hooks but everything else looks nice. There is very little fret wear and the neck is straight and frets true. This banjo did have vintage style Kluson guitar tuners installed so there are 8 holes where the little mounting screws were, and some flaking of the finish where the tuners rested. No reaming of the tuner holes or additional modifications were made. The guitar tuners dropped right into the holes (and have been pulled right out and the original tuners re-installed).
Please contact me if you have questions. I don't hang out here much because I'm actually a guitarist and just used this instrument where doubling was required for some Musicals / shows. I did learn about it here, though.
I'm miss_phrett on eBay and have 230+ transactions with 100% feedback.
Thanks! –Tom
