New open back made by me in my shop. I used 4 different wood types (walnut, mahogany, poplar & maple) for the pot and two types (maple and walnut) for the neck. All new metal parts were used to assemble the banjo. The banjo plays easy and sounds good. You can hear it being played by me on my BHO music page. Here are some specifics:
Pot: 11" block construction. 3/4" thick, 2 3/4" deep. Has a 3/16" steel hoop for the tone ring. 5 star head. Medium light gauge stings, "no knot" tailpiece, and a 1/2" bridge.
Neck: Frailing scoop installed, rosewood fretboard, 17 frets with 26 1/4" scale, non-adjustable steel reinforcement rod, new geared tuners, and mother of pearl position dots. Neck is straight and notes true up and down the neck String action is 3mm above the 12th fret. Fretboard is 1 1/4" at the nut and 1 15/16 at the end. The banjo weighs in at 6 lbs
