Gibson made Kalamazoo model KRB original 5-string resonator banjo
This banjo has been completely refurbished from tailpiece to tuners.
It has all new frets, new finish on neck, resonator and rim, and new Kalamazoo MOP inlay in peghead. Other features include vintage Grover Pat. pancake-style tuners, new 5-Star geared 5th peg, new bone nut and pip, Huber head, side dot position markers added, new low-profile armrest, and modern Presto tailpiece.
The rim has had an 11" x 1/4" rolled brass tone hoop added, and it really gave this old banjo a boost in both tone and volume. It's currently set-up with an original Snuffy Smith bridge and GHS light strings.
The tension hoop, hooks, nuts, shoe brackets and resonator hardware are original Gibson-Kalamazoo parts. Of course, the mahogany neck (w/Brazilian rosewood fretboard), maple rim and resonator are original as well.
If you're looking for a lightweight resonator banjo with a cool vintage vibe, one that won't break the back or the bank, this is definitely one to consider. It can easily be converted to an openback too.
I can pretty much guarantee you won't find another one like it. :^)
It will come shipped in a pre-war hard case, unless you prefer something more modern. We can discuss that.
