This banjo was necked and set up by John Boulding from here on the Hangout. John did a beautiful job converting this banjo into a 5 string. He used the original inlays from the tenor neck and built a "distressed" neck that looks like an original 5 string right down to the bled over border inlays. It truly looks original. This banjo is loud for a ball bearing but still has that sweet tone they are known for. The neck plays really well with what I consider a near perfect action height. Tailpiece is a punched out Presto original. The ball bearing is a much overlooked prewar that doesnt get its proper due in my book. Original tuners make it a fun challenge to get in tune but I have to say it stays better en any I have ever owned. There is a very slight depression on the headstock finish from having a clamp-on D tuner on it. This banjo is in real nice condition and wasnt hauled around much to gigs etc.
