Well, I came into this thinking that it is just another instrument and music is music. Whoa Nelly! This is hard. I guess if it was easy everyone would be doing it. I have kind of re-grouped and dialed back my goals a little. I started with the mind set that with 2 hours practice a day I would learn a song every couple of weeks. Now, after three weeks I have decided one song every couple of months might be pushing it. I have learned Banjo In The Hollow but I am, so....... slow........ I have, so far, gotten my ring finger and little finger to calm down, and stay on the surface with little or no movement, but, the other three, with picks on them, just go their own way. Seems they have a mind of their own. I keep hearing muscle memory so how long does it take to remember not to hit two strings at once? I have dumb fingers. :-) I guess I am about ready to make my first video, I plan on making it at the end of next week to show my one month progress. Lord help me please. I am so slow.

	Banjoukegirl says: 1/19/2012 11:48:46 AM Hi, there. I, also, had to slow it back down and took a lesson from a teacher who has me working on Cluck Old Hen. Now, I have a lot more respect for this tune! I didn't even go to the fiddle jam this week as I have gone backwards in my banjo playing, but I'm working on it, again, and will keep at it. I can really relate to your new awareness of the difficulty in getting started playing the banjo.
	Larry121047 says: 1/19/2012 11:56:13 AM The hardest part for me so far is wanting to go faster than I can. I am a very picky person and want everything to be correct so to do that I have to go slow. If I speed up and miss a string or a note it bothers me, so, back to square one and that is slow and perfect. My teacher says the speed will come, but I am also impatient and want it now. Kind of like a frustrated child.
