Hello All:

Ok, 39 years ago, I was given a banjo by my soon to be wife as a marriage gift. It has no name and I knew very little about quality......

I just love the banjo and started to "collect" them but have NOT really learned to play. Even after all these years.

Now retired.... I'm trying again.... I have a Deering Boston, Morgan Monroe Cascade, and the "generic" gift.

I have computer software, read many books...... tried to practice but I lose by the next day what I have learned.

So people...... your my guides to success.

	Wallster says: 1/30/2011 1:50:43 AM Welcome aboard Joe. When I started playing guitar back when dinosaurs ruled the earth, someone told me that playing was just 1/10th talent to 9/10ths practice. I guess lots of repetition is the key to getting those pesky fingers to remember where to go. That's where I'm at. (Trouble is that I suspect my practice to talent ratio on the 'jo may be more like 99:1) Anyways I guess its about investing hours at the beginning to reap the rewards later on.
	Texasbanjo says: 1/31/2011 8:24:42 AM It takes time and practice for "muscle memory" to kick in. Perhaps you're trying to learn too much too soon? Many people try to learn half a dozen songs before they have the basic rolls down -- and they don't count and don't listen to the song before they try to play it. Tell me more about your problems and I'll try to help you with a practice plan.
