ya'll have a good new year, some of the mechanics of playing are hard to get, while music theory helps you understand whats going on, most theory is good to understand but to memorize everything will bankrupt you mentally lol

Happy New Year to you all too! I've moved past right hand drills and have started learning the D7 and C chords. Boy are my fingertips sore! But, I love my banjo, can't wait to pick it up everyday. Cripple Creek is next on my list.

Take your time go nice and slow and enjoy the ride. You will have ups and downs but stay patient. I'm a long way away myself but can see progress from whe I started almost a year ago, with Scruggs style.

Happy New Year (Belated) to Bill and all. Just found this Group and joined up. I am not a total rank beginner, this will be my third year. I find my progress is not smooth, but marked by episodes of sudden improvement. This lends a certain panic to the between periods when improvement stops.

Hey everone,

I'm still trying and getting a little progress although some days I think that I am going backwards lol.

I have taken some advice and it seems to be working in that I move on, and go back to the difficult bits after a short rest.

I still only get a half hour a day in during the week so I learn most of my stuff at the weekends, thanks for the support!
