Ok, I have been a lurker for a very long time... I have tried on and off... more off than on for the past 40 years. I think I can be serious now and try again. I have the time..... my goal is that I wish to be able to play a single song by June 2014.

	somarmd says: 1/21/2014 5:02:08 AM Hello, you can absolutely do that. Have you tried Murphy Method? I found her teaching style to be very good. I haven't played much banjo this past year because I took up fiddle but use her as a resource when I do pull it out. Good luck!
	GreasyNails says: 1/21/2014 2:24:23 PM I'll second somarmd's suggestion of the Murphy Method dvd. I have her first disk, and it's awesome. She just has a way of bringing it all together. I've been using disk one for a couple of months now, and would recommend it to anyone.
	JvK says: 1/21/2014 2:53:58 PM Well, I have not tried her method, I have tried others currently I'm trying Ross Nickerson's through Mel Bey publications. But, this time I'm going to stick with it and not let anything pull me aside. I appreciate your thoughts.
	Randyc1959 says: 1/22/2014 5:19:03 AM I'm not a beginner but just thought I'd save you a lot of headache and time by recommending very strongly that you try the Murphy Method. When I was just starting out back around 1985 she was around but that was before DVD. All she had was cassettes and I went through each and every one at an average of about 1 song per week and that was with practicing at the most an hour a day. Her method I'd BY FAR the best out there. You learn at your own pace and you NEVER have to use tab. I still follow Casey through YouTube. She has a list of songs available so you only learn what YOU want to learn. The Murphy ladies are the best.
