While focusing on trying to learn clawhammer, and getting frustrated in the process, I discovered "two finger" style. Thanks to Chip here at BHO. Perused his new website just for this style, and the fire lit again so to speak. I'm predominately a finger picker on my main instrument, Mountain Appalachian dulcimer, and I guess the muscle memory from that transferred to banjo in a way. So I messed with it for about two hours last night, love the melodic quality to it, the fingers are happier as well. I've had friends tell me you're doing two/three finger style, but being new to the banjo, it bounced off the brain totally, lol! After setting down to get the feel, setting goals, practice and I'm happily and furiously gobbling up all the info I can, and interjecting it into my practice sessions. As my husband says, "Oh Lordy, she's on a tear again!". Which translates to, "Katie bar the doors, here she comes!". I think the greatest thing about any acoustic instrument, no matter the age, level of capability, is the inherent desire to learn. That and to be able to make our own joyful noise!
