I just got a used Deering Goodtime 2 and I'm waiting for delivery.

Checking out lesson options and finding out that there are no instructors in North San Diego County. The closest one is an hour+ away so I'm looking at on-line lessons.

Looking forward to picking enough to start grinning.

It's lovely and true and easy to play. If you're looking for online lessons, I can 100% recommend a teacher I found here on the BHO -- Chris Quinn. I've done 4 lessons with him now over the past three months and can't say enough good things about him. He seems to know exactly what I need to learn and has elevated my playing -- and my enjoyment of playing! -- immensly. Good luck and have fun! Please feel free to contact me for any other info ....

	ohirider says: 3/23/2015 2:55:08 PM UPDATE: Got the banjo and made an appointment at the Deering factory for last Tuesday. It's all checked out, tightened up and tuned up with new strings. While it was being worked on Carolina spent a half hour with me walking me through the basic maintenance and care. Everyone at Deering was super nice and helpful. At the referral of Carolina I signed up for the Tony Trishka course on the Artist Works web site. I think it will work out but I might still want some face time with a real person. Having worked with my hands for many years and being 62 I'm finding the finger work for the chords a little challenging but I'm sure it will come around. Also, spent Saturday at the Temecula Bluegrass Festival and got some inspiration and set a goal; next year I want to take my banjo and join in the jam sessions that take place around town.
