Hey, I was given a mandolin banjo with a metal rim. The hide head says "1-1-36," which I assume to be a date.

Any idea on the maker?

I play 5 string, so I would lean toward finding a 5 string neck for it. Any reason I shouldn't do so? The Mando neck is very well made, and has been well kept.

Ill see if I can attach pics, they're the most recent 10 or so in my uploads.
