Gariepy vs ODE

Curious if anyone has bTh and if they could chime in as to the pro's and cons of both, and which thy prefer??

I assume you mean the aluminum pot varieties (both made other models). I've played both, and I own a couple Gariepys. They're kinda similar, but I prefer the Gariepy's 5-piece neck--it's a little narrower and more of a v-profile. And I also prefer the Gariepy's sound; I think it's closer to wood-sounding than an OME.

I meant "ODE." BTW, if you can find one, the Gariepy is a lot more affordable.

Yes, sorry I should have specified... aluminum pots. I appreciate the feedback. And am a fan of v-necks! I have an ODE cast aluminum pot and I love the sound. It's quite bell like. Very curious about gariepys

Gariepy made a wide range of banjos in California in the '60s. The aluminum pot open back was very affordable even back then (@$120). Gariepy had bought a lot of stuff from the VanEps estate and so his designs mirrored much of VanEps. The story doesn't have a happy ending (you can Google it). Banjo Newsletter reproduced the Gariepy catalog a years ago, and you can still order that back issue from them.
