Would you like an Australian BHO?

From 5strings3picks1banjo on 4/13/2017 1:38:15 AM

Hello all, I have been posting in main forums how to create an Australian site that could suit everyone downunder. Similar to this site. Things I think about is helping people find what they want and need. This site is great and I could never stop coming here for a source of knowledge but I think we all would benefit from something more local. Yes Australia has some great blogs and sites but I want to see something greared towards us the players, buyers and sellers. You may want a repair or a part or find someone to help and someone might know someone near you. You may be selling some old instrument or wanting one. If we all advertise in the same place it can only benefit everyone. Lets say Wendy Holman, Rodger Buckmaster, White Swollow, Grundy, Pat Doole, Ray Black, etc,You or Me Why not share with everybody and keep our Australian scene alive and well. Help keep shops open and lutheirs working and creating. Another plus would be a chatroom. This connects others in so many ways. Ways like instant feedback, playing advice, building advice, discussions, jam to each other, make and forge trusting friendship and even visit each other when traveling or loan a banjo. Endless possibilities. My website is terrible but with assistance and advice I hope to grow it into something community based and a place to share.

Any thoughts or help? I would also like to thank all the support I have received over the years and to everybody that has guided me, taught me and shared with me.You all have contributed to what I have learnt.Thank you To Australian Bluegrass for the most recent hand up.

Hi Leon,
This sounds very appealing to me, and so I presume to others. One suggestion I do have is to include the wider banjo community, as BanjoHangout does. I am learning bluegrass 5 string style (hoping to be able to play other stuff on it in due course like blues and classical, like Jens Kruger for example). I am also learning 4 string plectrum (the longer neck length 4 stringer, not tenor) too play jazz banjo. These, plus tenor for jazz and for folk/celtic, are all covered on Banjohangout. I know several players in Australia who play more than one type of banjo and who would appreciate the wider reach.
Just by the way, my main plectrum for jazz is a White Swallow, which is world class and made by Alan Funk in Adelaide.
I live in Sydney and may be able to help out. What do you have in mind?
Warm regards,
Gordon Brown

I was hoping to find out where banjo players were performing on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane. I would be keen to know about any banjo camps or suchlike get togethers. I clicked to join on your Facebook page.

Occasionally I get down to Sydney as well, but I would be banjoless. I am mostly interested in watching other people play at this point. I am just a beginner.
