Elderly instruments in the U.S sell goatskin velums from $9.00 up to $19.95 plus postage to aus. Can't help with the gourd though?

Have now found a gourd supplier in Bridgetown wa (near Margaret River)He has also experience with instrument making.and seems to know what is required. Also goatskin heads from USA.was recommended by the guy who made the banjo neck.Cheap price so will post when they arrive and comment on the quality (About 1/4 elderly price) and freight much cheaper.Cant wait to get started

Hello John, I'd love to hear about or see your progress. I'm hoping to get started on my first string instrument in a couple of weeks, a 4 string gourd guitar with a wooden top. Then maybe a skin head banjo with the other half of the gourd. The instructions look simple but it's still a challenge for me. The gourd is a swan neck but it hung here on the fence with a nice straight neck.
