I just bought a Deering Goodtime parlor banjo. My reasoning is that I've had two people in the last 6 months that told me I really shouldn't take my B&D to gigs or traveling. Now I'm really not good enough to play at many "gigs". I do play about once a month with a rock and roll band and it's usually in a bar. And I'm going to start practicing with a couple of guys where it's more folk, old time, and bluegrass.
Getting back to the reason for this post. I've been playing the Deering a lot so I picked up the B&D and wow ! I never realized how good it sounds. It's not an expensive B&D just a Special #1 tenor with a 5 string neck. I've had this banjo for approx 40 years. The 5 string neck was made by Roger Siminoff back in the mid 1970's when he lived and worked in New Jersey.
