I jes purchased a Harmony Reso-Tone open back model. From what I've learned, it appears it may be a Harmony Basic 16.
It has geared tuners on the 1st four strings and a friction tuner for the 5th string. It does NOT have the huge quarter note or the "Made in USA" on the peghead, jes simply, "Harmony".
The head is plastic, but not frosted. The frets are brass and the strings seem to be thinner than most. The 1st is 0.010", but the 5th string is thinner, only 6 or 7 thousandths diameter.
I bought it cuz the thing has a better action than my RKS-O6 yellow resonator model. I cannot believe how well this thing plays.
BUT!! .....how long can I play it with these brass frets. I know, now, it plays so well cuz of the strings and the astonishingly low action. The brass frets are barely worn, but I see them wearing pretty quickly. Yes? No?
I also had a lady friend tall me to never put the Bakelite body in any kinda plastic case/bag, as it will degrade the Bakelite. Yes? No? I have the original cardboard case for it.
I love it fer clawhammer, but am worried I may wear out the brass frets.
