Ok so I've sort of gone back to my roots at banjo playing here. Ok so my roots aren't too deep, but hey I got some roots! So I've been working on some 3 finger songs that I used to play and mixing them in with claw in an arrangement. It's pretty fun!

My fingers are REAL slow like they always were, but it's still fun.

I do want to ask ya'll this though. What do you think when someone takes a song and plays it at a bunch of different speeds all in the same arrangement? I'm OK with it, but want some thought s on it.

Here's what I'm doing. I'm playing the 3 finger part pretty slow and then going into the claw. Well I play the claw part several times through and gradually get faster. Then I get about as fast as I can go with it and then I start to wind it back down. I end with the 3 finger slow version again.

What ya'll think?

Now I'll be honest here. I really don't care what anyone thinks (I am a Bandit after all), but just wonderin' about some like minded people's opinions on it.

Ok ending my ramble now.

TimDavis says: 5/11/2011 8:23:15 AM I need to see an example. I wouldn't be annoyed by an intro and outro that are at different tempos than the song. I would probably be annoyed if you did a verse of singing with a fast tempo and then did a slow tempo break. It depends on context, but I think usually this wouldn't sound very good. It's great that you can play different styles. I've thought about learning some finger picking, but haven't gotten much further than just thinking about it. I'm more interested in playing guitar than I am in finger picking so that's taking all of my time.

	RatLer says: 5/16/2011 5:30:37 PM I did like you're talking about in a banjo contest. Strarted out 2-finger style (slower tempo) and switched to CH and brought it up to speed. Meant to finish with 2-finger but screwed up...got 2nd place though!!

	Paul R says: 5/18/2011 9:12:31 AM Did a couple of things at the jam - very basic, like "Grandfather's Clock" starting out slow and then rev it up. Haven't changed styles, though. But I'm thinking of starting on mandolin and switching to banjo halfway through.
	RatLer says: 5/19/2011 5:03:33 AM A looooong time ago I did Dueling Banjos with someone in front of me to hold/pass the banjo/guitar back and forth to me as I played the parts. Course when it was time to play both at the same time...I had to thow in the towel...LOL
