help im trying to learn the banjo but im having problems with strings

can someone help me my 5th sting on my banjo got a buzz or a ring to it it is tuned but its still there anyone know why? please help

May be a new string needed.

Can you tell where the noise is coming from? It could be to low and buzzing on a fret, in which case it's possible the 5 th string but is too low.

It could be a low string.

lay the banjo flat on a table and have a look along the banjo neck from the side to see if the string is too close to a fret on the neck, there should be a about 1mm of clearance at the sixth fret increasing to about 4/5mm towards the pot/resonator of your banjo.

If this is the case the action of the stings is probably O.K.

If the strings are too low you could try using a higher bridge.

Have a look on youtube as there are some good informative video clips on there that may help you out.
