Well, after two vine pattern heads, it was time for a change. This time, I made a photocopy of one of my sketches (an abandoned house on Holmes Road north of Kingston), stuck it under the head, and sketched on the top in pencil and then in brown archival ink. If I'd had one with the building on the right side, I would have set it horizontal - seen level when the banjo is being played. This is on my Gretsch four-string, which I play clawhammer on.
