Well,let's see. I'm looking at the alumni pictured here.I traded some parts with grumpyoldman,mtnpcker and Granada and I traded cd's with and enjoyed the pickin of WildJimbo.I've had bridges made by derekanjo and banjoplyr.Sold a banjo and a cd to Zeemo.Bought a banjo from Mimosa Banjo,listened to and enjoyed the varying styles of Jimh2o69b and trapdoor2,got a bearhug from HoosierGal and aggravated Lone as often as I could. I guess that's about everybody.

I went from hyperventilating and nearly fainting when playing for people in a chat room (first time to Tigerwud) to feeling confident enough to play at jams and even on stage in front of audiences.

It taught me that I didn't have to hide in the closet to play my banjo, that there are already enough bluegrass pickers out there that I don't have to be ashamed that I can't play FMB, and most importantly introduced me to a great bunch of folks. I have some life long friends now that I wouldn't have had otherwise.

Plus made some great chatroom friends and memories in the process. I still have the chatroom CD that we made up of our playing in the chatroom.

If I listed my 13 closest friends all I would have to do is copy this list. So. I guess the banjo has enriched me greatly.!

Chazza! You never told us you played on stage. We want to hear the details.
Anyway..in The Banjo Lounge I was introduced to a whole lot more music than what I could find in books and at festivals here. I heard some fantasic playing. Most times you have to pay at least $10 to hear fantastic playing, but I'll never cease to be amazed and grateful that people can share their music with folk like me, out in the bush. I learnt tunes (I still play a few Rod versions), though I had to learn at breakneck speed. I had late nights. And I think one of the highlights was hearing a lighthouse keeper in the evenings, playing and singing his heart out all alone on a cold windswept rock with bears all around. I was able to meet some of the aussies. I can continue, but it would go off the bottom of the monitor.

I was on the banjo lounge when I first started playing banjo, so most of you have known me since I was 14 (oh my goodness :P ) - you lucky people! Everyone on there encouraged me, taught me and gave me a shove in the right direction! I was then able to play in a few bands and it looks likely that i'll be in a new one very soon :)
