Hi All. I've been having a few lessons with a really great local teacher who advocates learning melodic style BEFORE learning Scruggs style. He says it's easier to pick out the melody notes and build dexterity quickly. This was a new way of thinking for me as up until now i'd only played Scruggs style songs. I'm working my way through Turkey in the Straw, Virginia Hornpipe and Over the waterfall. It's a way of playing that i've not really tried before but i'm having blast!
