Smokin' The Bird

From thebanjobert on 12/5/2012 4:45:48 AM

Ok; this post has nothing to do with banjo, Bishline, or bluegrass, but 'Smokin' The Bird' would be a great title for an instrumental.  I heard Tony Rice playing 'Plastic Banana' on Bluegrass Junction yesterday so, why not?

However, I am actually smoking four whole chickens for a Christmas luncheon for my associates at work today.  This could be my greatest culinary achievement - or my greatest disaster; time will tell..............

I smoked Brisket for 300 people last week for a Benifit at Our Church last week. Took about 12 hours, but well worth it. I enjoy Smoking everything from Brisket to ribs, BBQ Chicken, and just about anything I can fit in My Smoker. Good Luck with it.

Well, good luck Smokin' the Birds Terry! Hope all is well with you. Rob sent me a wooden armrest for my Salty Dog...Looks GREAT! I think Santa is bringing me some Keith D-Tuners for Christmas! :)

Enjoy your Christmas luncheon!

Thanks, folks! I smoked about 50 lbs. of brisket for the group last Thanksgiving, Dan but nothing like 300!! I guess that's how I got the job again this year.

Everything is good here in Oklahoma, Sheri! Glad you like your armrest. I want to hear a recording after you get your new tuners!!

I know what You mean Terry. About 4 years ago I cooked Ribs and BBQ Chicken for a Christmas Dinner for the Church and since then I have become the "Unoffical, Offical" Cook for the Church!! But I don't mind as long as no one gets sick from My cooking. Plus They let Me Play in the Church Band, so If They run Me off, They loose their Cook!!!!

Hmmmmm......I've not received any requests to play the banjo at these gatherings, Dan. Maybe I should make that part of the deal next time!!

I'm from Colorado. A Smokin' the Bird instrumental might give Puff The Magic Dragon a run for its money as our new state song. *sigh*
